Position Overview

  • At The Monocle, we believe our team is the secret to our success. As an Optician, you’ll play a crucial role in delivering the best possible experience to your customers. You will assist patients with eyeglass fittings, eyewear testing, and other optical dispensing. We are looking for a team member to demonstrate a high level of knowledge about various products to ensure patients are matched with corrective lens options that not only fit their medical needs, but also their lifestyle preferences. The ideal candidate will possess strong sales and communication skills, business acumen, and bring a customer-focused approach to their daily work.

Responsibilities

  • Educating clients about the best eyewear choices for their lifestyle, ensuring they receive the best in value and quality
  • Informing patients about advances in corrective eyewear solutions
  • Interpreting optical prescriptions as written by optometrist
  • Obtain specifications for lens and accurately complete patient measurements
  • Place orders with lens vendors and navigate ordering systems effectively
  • Edging lenses (No previous experience necessary)
  • Adjust finished eyeglasses to fit the client and perform repairs as needed
  • Dispense glasses and train patients as needed
  • Manage product inventory and ensure quality control
  • Arranging and maintaining retail display area
  • Mentor/train staff on dispensary activities
  • Work collaboratively with practice doctors and staff in delivering exceptional patient experience and satisfaction
  • Upholding excellent customer service standards using your charisma and problem-solving skills
  • Becoming cross-trained on scheduling and pretesting patients
  • Greeting, checking in, and assisting at front desk
  • Processing patient invoices and filing insurance billings
  • Achieve sales goals and quotas as determined by office staff without compromising patients’ specific needs and desires
  • Teach patients on proper contact lens use and hygiene
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 1+ year Dispensing experience required (Optician license preferred)
  • Friendly, positive, upbeat, and agreeable personality
  • Hardworking, diligent, organized, and punctual
  • Strong sales ability and previous experience selling products in an optical setting
  • Ability to consistently deliver exceptional patient/customer experience
  • Significant knowledge and experience working with a wide range of ophthalmic lenses/vendors, from budget friendly to higher-end products
  • Keen eye for fashionable eyewear that matches patients’ unique styles
  • Self-motivated to grow and learn.
  • Ability to operate lensometer and other equipment
  • Exceptional customer service and sales experience
  • Demonstrable experience and comfort working with monthly sales targets
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Willingness and ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly and effectively
  • Experience and/or ease working with diverse clientele
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work well with others in a small team environment
  • Ability to multitask and maintain a positive outlook when busy
  • High attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of G-Suite and Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to work with basic office software, including Word, Excel, and PDF
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
