The ACAO is seeking volunteers to serve as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and collaborate with the ACAO’s Education Committee on the review and development of continuing education for members. This is a great opportunity to use your expertise and experience to contribute to the education and continuing competency of opticians across Alberta.

Role Description

Education SMEs will work directly with the Education Committee to review and update existing continuing education courses, as well as to propose and help develop new continuing education content based on an evaluation of member needs.

Time Commitment

The time commitment for this role will vary depending on the course content under review or development, but volunteers should have sufficient flexibility to commit to completing quarterly tasks for the review and development of course materials and to attend committee meetings if requested. No travel is required for this role.

Skills and Knowledge Requirements

Education SMEs should have at least five years of professional experience as an RO and/or RCLP, and have strong organizational/planning competencies and technical expertise. Previous experience in developing or delivering education content would be considered an asset.

Members applying to serve as SMEs must be registered members of the ACAO in good standing. To apply, please complete the volunteer questionnaire below and submit your responses to Kalen Hussey at kalen@acao.ca.

Sincerely,

Dean Thompson, Chair of the ACAO Education Committee
