Discussion Topics:

9 am – 12 pm
Help us review, revise and understand the new standards of practice which will govern opticians in Alberta. We value your input and want to ensure that these new standards are easy to understand, and are appropriate to ensure the provision of safe services to the public. You will be provided with a draft of the new standards being contemplated by the ACAO. This is a working session to get feedback as to what is good and what may be more challenging to implement. When these sessions are done, the council will finalize the standards so that they may be sent to government and external stakeholders for comment and implementation. Come have your say and make sure your thoughts are heard and taken into consideration for this very important document.

1 pm – 3 pm
The afternoon will be a look at the new quality assurance program (formerly continuing competency). This new program is set to launch in 2020. This session also allows for your input and comments to make sure the program that is coming considers and meets your competency needs.
